Our History

Built in the early 1800's by Reuben Everett, whose family owned and farmed the adjacent land, this historic landmark home was the first to be built on Middle Sound Loop Road.

Edward F. Turberg, a local historian and expert on early architecture called the house architecturally and historically significant as the largest and oldest surviving in all of New Hanover County.

It is believed the timber of the house was cut on the property now known as Landfall, loaded on a barge and floated up Pages Creek where it was dumped ashore at a landing a quarter mile from the house site and pulled by mules to the property. The Everett's occupied the house until circa 1888.

The house has changed hands several times over the last 200 years and has had multiple renovations, remarkably though, Sycamore Manor is the original house built on the Sycamore Bend property. Additions have been made to the house, but the original timber frame is still standing in its original footprint.

Purchased in 2015, the Manor was in need of major renovations, but the beauty and possibilities were obvious. Extensive landscaping and fencing have added to the grandeur of the grounds at Sycamore Bend. The light at the end of the tunnel is completed, the Sycamore Bend Estate is completed!
